Alison Wonderland (Alexandra Margo Sholler)
Born in Sydney, Australia on September 27, 1986, Alexandra “Ali” Sholler began her musical journey in classical halls—playing cello with the Sydney Youth Orchestra—and later shredding bass guitar in local indie bands . A chance encounter with electronic music—a late-night club’s spin of The Knife—lit the spark that led her to teaching herself production and DJ’ing by 2008 .
Launching her stage name in 2009, she quickly gained recognition remixing artists like Sam Sparro and Ladyhawke, and eventually signed with EMI Australia . Her debut EP Calm Down and breakthrough 2012 single “I Want U” propelled her into the spotlight. In 2015, her first full album, Run, peaked at No. 6 on the ARIA Albums Chart, earned Gold certification, and earned nominations at the J‑Awards and ARIA Awards .
She stormed the U.S. scene with a triumphant debut at Coachella, setting a record as the highest billed female DJ ever at the festival . Her second album, Awake (2018), climbed to No. 1 on Billboard’s Dance/Electronic Albums—marking a back-to-back chart-topping streak—while earning her Billboard’s Breakout Artist of the Year title .
Ahead of major festival slots, she debuted Temple of Wonderland at Coachella—replete with cello, drummers, and captivating stage visuals—to lasting acclaim . She sold out iconic arenas like Red Rocks, built her own Wonderland Warehouse Project tour, and clocked well over 500 million streams globally .
Ali’s music is emotional, authentic, and unfiltered—her lyrics often grapple with heartbreak, mental health, and loneliness. Her 2018 album was born from personal healing after battling depression and suicidal thoughts, while touring’s pressures led to pauses in 2019 to prioritize her well-being .
In May 2022 she released Loner, her third studio album—a personal reset that reflects on isolation, resilience, and renewal . Beyond the music, Ali became a mother in June 2023 with the birth of son Max, and later married filmmaker Ti West in October 2024 .
